A total of 20 bands are playing at the four events. 10 bands will go through to the semi-finals; here’s how it works….

The top 5 bands from the online voting, with the most votes for “Best Live Act” will go through automatically.

From the remaining 15 bands, the judges will vote on the best 5 acts to go to the semi final.

You can help us to get to the semi final by giving 10 seconds of your time to vote for us! All you have to do is visit this website and vote for Yellowgroove for Best Live Act. You can only vote once (per IP address) but if you’re in a University, Internet Cafe, Library or on a phone, you could be able to vote again! (just give it a go!)

If you’re feeling especially generous; we’ve also been nominated for the “One Great Song” category for our latest single, “San Francisco Bay”. You can vote for the song to win by visiting this page.

In other news, we’re going “cottaging” again this weekend.  We’ll be shutting ourselves away in a small cottage in the middle of nowhere to make lots of noise as well as rehearsing and writing some new songs. We might even get a few of our new tracks recorded to let you all hear what we’ve been up to!

Last weekend we performed two songs at Centre Stage in Bournemouth as part of the first round of the Dorset Music Awards which is being organised by Devil’s Music.  One of the judges, Tim Heywood, has made a comment on his blog about the performance of all of the 39 bands that played over the two days. Very kindly, he said [about Yellowgroove's performance] , “Love it!”. The other judge must have also agreed with Tim because last night we found out that we have made it through to the quarter finals!

Recent Gigs

Our gigs over the last two weekends at Smokin’ Aces have been friggin’ awesome. Yellowgroove’s mate Tim Heywood (http://www.hopefm.com/) who was at both gigs, has written his independent review of the events. We also did an interview and unplugged session with Tim last week, and recorded the whole session. We hope you tuned in and loved Simon’s awful jokes. We’ll be making the tracks available as part of the Live on Hope FM release some time soon. Last night’s Amnesty International gig was great, a fantastic mix of music and poetry for a really worthwhile cause, in the year of it’s 50th birthday.

A Yellow Christmas

Jon Gregory and Nic Fair, some close friends and fans of Yellowgroove, have been deviously doing good deeds concerning Yellowgroove. Secretly, the two have been conspiring to get Yellowgroove to the number one Xmas spot. Slightly ambitious we must admit, but if you want to know more please check it out at “The Best Xmas Present Ever“. Behind bands are great mates, and we sincerely thank these guys for their efforts, and apologise for our nosey behaviour that led us to finding out.

A Change of Rhythm

For those who have visited our recent gigs would have noticed the drummer is of similar height, a lot hairier and has an apish-like gait. His name is Chris Tyjberg, and he’s our new drummer. We’d like to extend many thanks to Jack, who was with us for 2 years, wishing him all the best on his future endeavours.

A few months ago we got some Yellowgroove t-shirts made. We’ce got 2 designs a Yellowgroove regal crest, and one with Austin Powers fully endorsing YG…

Finally, a big thanks goes out to Jason Petrou and his gran. Today we’re heading off (fully fuelled up on our recycled chip fat) to a lovely little cottage in the Peak District, up north. A week’s worth of rehearsal, songwriting and demo-recordings will ensue, so stay tuned for the results.

Our first event is this Friday at the Smokin’ Aces rock cocktail bar in Bournemouth. It’s Trevor Hill’s (from Devil’s Music and the DMAs) Birthday and he’s asked us to play! We can’t wait and it’ll be our first gig in Smokin’ Aces. If you haven’t been before, you certainly won’t be disappointed; more whiskey than you can shake lucifer at, free entry all night and we’re starting at 9pm. We’d love to see you there if you’re around! If all goes to plan, we’ll hopefully be springing a little surprise during the evening. No less than 8 days later and we’ll be playing a follow up gig to our debut at the Smokin’ Aces! This time we’ll be playing in celebration of the venue’s 1st Anniversary and we’re very honoured to have been asked. There will be music from DJ Leeroy and the party will keep flowing until 6am! As always, it’s free entry all night. More info to come!

Our third part to the trilogy is on Saturday 3rd December at Centre Stage. It’s Amnesty International’s 50th Birthday and the Bournemouth branch are throwing a big night of eclectic music! There will be performances from the Bournemouth Community Gospel Choir, the SUSBUS Ukulele band, The General Public, Colanadan and of course, us! Tickets are £7.50 with proceeds going to the charity and, once again, we’ll be posting more info closer to the date.

Although not (yet) officially a party, but to carry on the party theme, we’ll be having a Yellowgroove Christmas party at the Cellar Bar in Boscombe on Saturday 17th December.

Anyway, we hope you’re in the party mood because we definitely are! Come and help us bring a rocking end to the last parts of 2011!

After all it’s a Monday, it’s October and it’s raining… We’re not far enough into Autumnal Blues to forget the Summer, neither ready to buckle down, pull up our coats and accept that Winter is indeed coming…

Advance tickets are just £5 and are available here up until midnight on 21 Oct. These will be exchanged on the Takeover day (at 60 Million Postcards from midday) for a wristband, which will allow you entry into all six venues. Wristbands can also be purchased on the day at any venue for £6.

We will be playing at Champions at around 10pm and doors open at 7pm.

The release date for the track is Monday 24th October, just a few weeks from now (and the anniversary of when we started recording). Over the next three weeks we’re going to be sharing a series of videos with you delving deep into the workings of Yellowgroove, in the studio behind the scenes and a making of the video errr video. What more could you want?!
